Our first option, always: reusing what’s already been produced and leftover for dismanting. Partnering with Rossana Diana from Venette Waste we end finding real gems of the highest quality.

Graphene is a one-atom-thick layer of carbon. It has top thermoregulation benefits, the nanotech material features highly conductive capacities which avoid strong thermal fluctuations of the body in the event of changes to the surrounding temperature or during physical exertion. Warmth in hot temperatures is dispersed while in colder temperatures it is equally distributed - keeping your body temperature stable. Another plus? It comes from corn cobs and is 100% natural.
We have never been huge fans of synthetic but for technical outerwear (designed to last for a loooong time!) we do source NewLife Recycled poly, ensuring 60% reduction in energy usage and up to a 40% of reduced emissions.

Why produce new when we can use what already exists? The farming of standard virgin cotton can consume up to 4% of worldwide nitrogen fertilisers, 16% of all insecticides, and 7% of all herbicides. Recycled cotton is surely a better eco option! However the real reason why it is not so widely used (yet!) is often because of its quality: as fibers shorten in the recycling process they tend to lose on strength, potentially compromising the durability and performance of the fabric. But hey - we feel confident about where our fabric makers have gotten so far using up to 70% recycled in some fabric compositions - yey!

GOTS CERTIFIED
2/3 of our products are currently based of certified organic cotton, surely a better option for our skin and for the environment. The LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) conducted on GOTS Certified Organic Cotton as a matter of fact showed a reduction in water consumption of 90% and in energy demand of 62%.

For our special tone of grey, in place of chemical pigments, we use a repurposed mineral: graphite. Recollected in powder form from the byproducts of the production of electrodes, this non toxic mineral is then revalued as a dyeing pigment, empowering the color of our clothes to recover what would have otherwise been wasted.

Our blue denim is also quite special! Why? Dissolving the indigo pigment in water usually requires heavy chemicals. The Smart indigo dye technology we use instead substitutes these chemicals with caustic soda and electricity.

A technology that allows us to use 30% less energy, 50% less water and 70% less chemicals in the dyeing process of denim. How? It fully replaces PVA with Chitosan - a fully biodegradable polymer obtained by repurposing the exoskeleton of crustaceans.
